As a first step, I always make a first visit of the place to be decluttered and organized in order to determine the objectives of my clients, to budget the mission and to evaluate its time.
In this particular case, one of the objectives was to define an organization that could be easily maintained over time. The other was to be able to store things in their home that were taking up too much space. From an aesthetic point of view, it was necessary to stay in black and white and to eliminate the transparent boxes.
Before I came, the cellar was relatively cluttered with stuff sometimes stored on the floor or in labeled boxes. Many times my clients decide to start organizing their stuff only to be discouraged by having to do it alone. Getting help from a professional organizer to organize your home can save you a lot of time and give you the right tools to make your organization last longer.
A first sorting of the belongings had already been done in part. My mission at first was to get rid of the things they wanted to get rid of (waste disposal center, recycling center, associations). It can happen that some objects are a source of problem, that’s why I accompany my customers during the sorting by asking them the right questions in order to help them to make a decision as for the fate of their things.
The cellar measures approximately 8 square meters which is not very large and thus requires the installation of a good system so that the arrangement is optimized.

Before my intervention, the space available in the cellar was poorly exploited and a lot of stuff was on the floor which made access to the stuff difficult. My advice to optimize storage is to use as much space as possible in your basement by placing sturdy shelves, wall hooks and closed cabinets. Group items of the same category together and store them inside labeled storage boxes.
Good organization turns your basement into a storage space that is as practical as it is neat.
