In the often neglected world of home tidying, the cellar is often relegated to the background. Once a poorly used space, my customer’s cellar was a silent witness to daily chaos. A vast space, but cluttered with various items, part of her food stock and cleaning products, piled up without order or method. Ignored, almost forgotten, it had become an unused storage area.
Faced with this challenge, my expertise was needed. Two wooden shelves were installed in this untidy space. But I saw the untapped potential in the heights and depths of the cellar. It was time to give it back its lost functionality.
I opted for a bold approach, using rails along the walls and incorporating sturdy wooden shelving. The aim was clear: to maximise the space available while creating an organised and easily accessible environment. Installing the rails opened up a whole new world of possibilities. The shelves, judiciously positioned, freed up floor space, allowing for fluid circulation. Every centimetre was put to good use, transforming a simple storeroom into an efficient and aesthetically pleasing storage space.
The choice of wood for the shelves was not insignificant. As well as being robust, it adds a warm, authentic touch to the space. Each shelf was tailor-made to fit the dimensions of the cellar perfectly, ensuring optimum use of the space available.
What do you think of the result? What was once a forgotten, chaotic space has become a sanctuary for organisation. Food products are neatly arranged, cleaning products are perfectly tidied away, and every object now has its assigned place. This transformation goes far beyond the aesthetic aspect. It has breathed new life into this once neglected space, transforming it into a functional and harmonious place, where the cellar is no longer simply a storage space, but a real asset to the home, offering practical and aesthetic storage.
By reinventing cellar storage, we’ve shown thatno space is too small or too forgotten to be transformed into an organised and inspiring corner. This project is a testament to the importance of storage in our daily lives and the satisfaction that comes from a well-ordered home.
